About GIS Day
Since 1999, on the Wednesday of Geography Awareness Week, there has been an international recognition and celebration of Geography and GIS. On GIS Day, professionals and enthusiasts take time to show the world what GIS has done to make a difference in our society and in our daily lives.
Beginning in 2012, Portland has held an annual GIS Day extravaganza, a celebration of all things geospatial, a chance to make new professional connections and strengthen old ones. This event is made possible by a team of volunteers who coordinate inspiring speakers and activities with the backing of generous sponsors.
